A prototype made with certain tasks I wanted to implement in mind.
This is a shoot 'em up and tower defense hybrid, and with very very small roguelite elements, which I would love to flesh out more in the future.
I did all the programming. The art and music were free assets on itch. Sound effects were made with bfxr.
Things I tackled in this project:
- Day and night cycle
- Inventory system
- 4 item drops, including two usable ones ,one that slows times and one that causes a huge explosion, and two pickups (HP, and money)
- Shop where upgrades could be purchased after each night.
- A base to protect that has its separate health, the player loses if their health or the base's health drops to 0.
- Gradually increasing difficulty after each night
- Enemies spawn from different locations everyday
- Different enemies spawn at night
- Adding music and Sound Effects
- A boss fight with unique attacks and patterns at Day 5
This was a fun project, I finished most of it in two days, and I want to return to it in the future. I had fun with the concept, but I'm too burnt out and want to focus on other projects now.
